CNAM-Bio infrastructural resources include capabilities to progress from isolation of unique extremophilic and mesophilic microbes, to laboratory scale experiments, to high volume and pilot-scale production of biomaterials, with bioreactors up to 260 L capacity, and advanced downstream extraction and purification capabilities.

America's deepest mine, nestled in the Black Hills. Home to unique deep subsurface microbiology research, uncovering novel organisms and their ecological interactions.
The Extremophile Research Facilities at SD Mines houses equipment for microbiology and biochemical research. From working with plasmid mini-preps to vectors, the labs are equipped with a comprehensive line of centrifuges, incubators, spectrophotometers, and sterilization solutions.
CNAM-Bio researchers have full access to the CBE research facilities at SD Mines, which include a range of state-of-the art analytical instruments, processing equipment, and computational resources.
The CAPE Lab at SD Mines has more than 14,000 ft2 of dedicated space, housing polymer processing and composites fabrication equipment capable of taking bench scale formulations to pilot level processing and large-scale testing.
